What is victory? For me, it is an act of an individual to win a struggle or a contest. In any field of endeavor, or undertaking, be it in sports, academics or any activities of whatever nature, man gives his best to hit his own target. Everybody for that matter strives so he would surpass others, who, like me, are desirous to succeed.
I am a teacher by progression and my line of interest is in sports. BADMINTON is the name of my game. In every competition we participated, we always condition our physical and mental being geared towards hitting our works. How do we do this? First of all, instill discipline to all members of the team. Teach them the rudiments or rules of the game; develop teamwork, come up to the standards of the group and most importantly establish camaraderie, brotherhood without sacrificing respect for the others. Everybody has a role to play if only to attain victory.
Hand in hand with sports is my teaching profession. How do I relate victory in Teaching? In teaching, victory is measured by the number of pupils who could read and comprehend; who could communicate ideas both in oral and written form; pupils who could listen with understanding; solve mathematical problems; instill in himself correct attitudes and values; understand his role as a member of the family and the community where he belongs.
My role as a teacher is to prepare young pupils to go up the next ladder of education equipped with the know – how for them to meet the challenges that the higher education poses.
If we receive trophies and medals as signs of our victory in sports, we, too, become victorious in our teaching profession, if all of the above targets and objectives are met and our pupils are not behind in their quest for education as a way of life.
Then and only then I could be joyful over my victory both as a teacher and as a coach.
