CPD launched in SDO Masbate City

To foster a culture of lifelong learning among educators and educational leaders so as to adapt to evolving educational trends and policies, the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) was successfully launched in DepEd Masbate City, Sept. 10, 2024 at SDO Conference Hall.

SEPS Paraluman M. Torregoza and EPS II Jeremy A. Atad, ROV CPD Manager, provided inputs to the participants including division office personnel and program owners, elementary and secondary school heads along the various topics such as crafting objectives of CPD programs, CPD application process, among others.

In her welcome remarks, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Joy G. Cabrera said, “Let’s learn together, get the essentials, and apply the skills that we will be learning from this activity in our respective workplace so that all our trainings even LAC sessions can be given CPD units provided that we comply with the necessary requirements.”

On the other hand, Schools Division Superintendent Nelson S. Morales Jr. expressed his profound gratitude to the Regional Director Gilbert T. Sadsad duly represented by the technical people for the assistance extended to SDO Masbate City.

SDS Morales Jr. said, “This is a way of professionalizing our ranks when it comes to certain speakership, raising the bar of excellence especially those who are to be requested speak on certain matter. I always say this to the group that we should be able to speak with academic integrity.”

SDS Morales Jr. said further that our dream was to accredit and provide PRC accreditation and or CPD units even at the school level LAC session for that matter, our teacher would be able to comply with what is required by law in terms of professional development.

“If you are in the pubic service, it is not enough that you get hold of an appointment. It is not enough that you have you MA or doctoral degree. Even if you have all of those, there is still that continuing requirement,” he added.

Quoting a line from the Panunumpa ng Kawani ng Gobyerno which says “Sisikapin kong madagdagan ang aking kaalaman at kakayahan upang ang antas ng paglilingkod sa bayan ay patuloy na maitaas”, SDS Morales Jr. pointed out that that in itself was a continuing requirement when we deliver public service.”

“It is necessary that we continue to raise the level of excellence. Palaging uhaw sa kaalaman (constantly yearning for knowledge) and that is inherent among us in DepEd inasmuch as we are a learning organization and as a learning organization there’s that constant requirement, that is, upgrading and recalibration of skills,” he said with a note finality.

SEPS Liz R. Liao facilitated the said launching with the assistance of EPS II Ana E. Ferrer while Planning Officer III RemyJoyce A. Viñas hosted the program,
