The COVID- 19 pandemic situation that has caused many changes affecting its educational system around the globe is indeed a huge threat. In the Philippines the Department of Education addressed the learners’ needs through various types of Learning modalities. One of this is the Self-Learning Modules, the most practical way for schools usually situated in the provinces due to low quality of internet connection in the country. This is the best possible solution available offering the safest way for everyone following the health protocols implemented in the entire country.
The challenge in developing learning tasks in a Distance Learning environment is the limited access of learners to learning resources. Most of them don’t have access to internet and other reference books that they can use to further understand specific academic content. Providing other supplementary printed materials wherein learners engage in an independent Learning assessment like activity sheets is the best options.
Today, most of the learners are facing obstacles that may cause early signs of learning disabilities. Some of them are brought by the pandemic and other pressing problems of the society like poverty. It means that teachers must learn how to address the specific needs of every learner to effectively achieve mastery in academic areas. Creating interventions may help the teachers teach better in the new learning delivery modality by identifying and removing obstacles that may hinder learner’s academic progress. This intervention is very important to teachers for them to create and use varied strategies that will somehow help the learners increase academic proficiency. Embracing the greatness of new technology is absolutely one of the keys in reaching new learning avenues in making interventions for both teachers and learners. Using ICT as intervention is very important for both teachers and learners.
