SDO Masbate City welcomed its new Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Sir Nelson S. Morales, Jr. in a formal turnover ceremony, April 3, 2023, at the Conference Hall.
With Sir Morales Jr. taking over the position of Madam Fatima D. Buen’s position as superintendent of Masbate City Division, there is definitely a changing of the guard in the division.
In his welcome address, OIC-ASDS Arvin R. Sese, was quite optimistic that the same gesture of courtesy and respect would be accorded by SDO Masbate City personnel to the new superintendent.
Meanwhile, in her message, Hon. Rowena R.Tuason, City Vice Mayor, gave SDS Morales Jr. the assurance that all the support extended to the former superintendent [Ma’am Fati] would be extended to him by the City LGU.
“It is good to note that we have the same goal, that is, to maintain and increase the literacy and numeracy rate of our schoolchildren,” City Vice Mayor Tuason added.
Speaking virtually, OIC-SDS Buen said that Masbate City Division was very lucky with the new superintendent.
“Sir Nel is a person who has a happy disposition. I would like to tell the people of SDO Masbate City that your new superintendent is a very nurturing leader. He is also an endearing person who has a legal mind. SDO Masbate City is fortunate to have Sir Nelson as the new SDS,” OIC-SDS Buen quipped.
SDS Morales Jr. was congratulated by the Assistant Regional Director (ARD) of DepEd Region V Sir Bebiano I. Sentillas.
In his speech during the ceremony, SDS Morales Jr. acknowledged OIC-SDS Buen saying that they had been together in the Province of Albay as both of them served as Assistant Schools Division Superintendents. They had a profile of each other including the work ethics. Hence, they practically knew each other..
After knowing the division profile and significant milestones of SDO Masbate City [such as PRIME-HRM Maturity Level II compliant, Automatic Payroll Deduction System (APDS) etc.,] under the leadership of OIC-SDS Buen, SDS Morales Jr. said that he ihad indeed inherited a fortune.
SDS Morales Jr. was happy knowing that the Cify LGU under the leadership of Hon. Socrates M. Tuason, city mayor, and Hon. Rowena R. Tuason, city vice mayor, was info education.
He reminded everyone in attendance that the schoolchildren were the reason why they were in existence in the Department of Education (DepEd).
“On my part, I will do whatever it may take to ensure that all of our learners – all of the interest of every Masbateño learner will always be represented in all things that we will be doing in DepEd,” SDS Morales, Jr. said.
To add meaning to the ceremony, SDO personnel, headed by CID Chief ES Noel D. Logronio, rendered a surprise number and community singing.
Ms. Jennifer V. Garcia, Master Teacher II, and Mr. Ronan C. Relova, of Masbate National Comprehensive High School (MNCHS), acted as hosts.
After the ceremony, SDS Morales Jr. called for a meeting with SDO’s key personnel to discuss relevant issues and concerns.
