Every one of us longs for perfection. As we thrive in this noble profession as the molders of the youth, we always direct ourselves to the vision and mission of the Department of Education in creating well-rounded learners and future leaders. Relatively, as we navigate the dynamic landscape of education, we oftentimes set norms and regulations that are too perfect and far-fetched that we forget to become child-friendly and compassionate.

Negativity sometimes prevails as in the end result of these actions, and we forget that our learners have lives outside the four corners of our classrooms. Some problems in the scholastic places are brought about by the class rules, regulations and methods implemented in the classroom.

This always makes me think of my teaching ways and methods and I often reflect on achieving my tasks without compromising the holistic health and stability of my students. Allow me therefore to share some thoughts on the importance of being a lenient and considerate teacher to promote positive results among our students.

In our quest to impart knowledge and mold young minds, it is crucial that we recognize the unique challenges and individual circumstances our students face. Adopting a lenient and considerate approach can yield several positive effects, both in the short and long term. Such an approach fosters a positive and inclusive learning environment. When students feel that their challenges are understood and considered, they are more likely to actively engage in the learning process. This inclusivity can contribute to a classroom atmosphere where diversity is celebrated, enhancing the overall educational experience for everyone involved.

Furthermore, a lenient and considerate attitude can be a powerful motivator. Students often respond positively to teachers who show understanding and empathy. This creates a sense of trust and encourages students to strive for success, knowing that their efforts are recognized and appreciated. As a result, we may observe increased participation, improved academic performance, and a greater willingness to face challenges head-on.

It is important to stress that this approach sets the stage for effective communication and collaboration. When students perceive their teachers as approachable and understanding, they are more likely to seek guidance and support when needed. This open line of communication is instrumental in addressing potential issues early on, fostering a proactive and supportive educational community.

In the long run, the positive effects extend beyond the classroom. Students who experience leniency and consideration are more likely to develop essential life skills such as resilience, empathy, and effective communication. These skills are invaluable in preparing our students for the challenges they will encounter in their future endeavors.

As we strive to create a nurturing learning environment, let us be mindful of the impact our teaching approach can have on our students. A balance of firmness and flexibility, coupled with a considerate attitude, can pave the way for a generation of resilient, motivated, and socially aware individuals.

I always look up to my colleagues and I never fail to acknowledge their dedication to the noble profession of teaching. I know that if teachers sometimes become strict and rigorous, it is because they always aim to make each of their students become better versions of themselves as they move forward to become responsible members of the citizenry.

Let us continue to inspire and empower our students to reach their full potential, but let us also consider the processes, systems, and methods of how we will be able to make them achieve their dreams and aspirations.
